ORNITHOLOGICAL PASSION IN THE BAY OF SOMME
The Development and Preservation of Wild Life
Traveling through the Baie De Somme is an unforgettable getaway because you discover numerous natural spaces very often preceded by morning mists which cover, like a cloud, its marshes, its dunes, its forests and its estuaries which are
reminiscent of an impressionist painting with a particularity that it is pleasant to contemplate in these places expressing all the diversity of our territories integrating the good practices of ecotourism respectful of the environment in parallel
with the fact that the Bay benefits from a climate conducive to development and the preservation of wild life.Another
very popular place and much appreciated by fans of nature and wide open spaces, the Marquenterre Park which extends over 200 hectares has been an essential place for ornithology for more than 4 years in Europe as François and Sébastien, Members of the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) of the Somme Department."The migration periods
span from February to November,we can observe during these periods more than 300 species such as waders, waders,
water birds or other passerines and birds of prey along 3 routes which have 12 observations posts which it is delightful
to see photographing as well as observing using a good pair of binoculars or an ornithological telescope while
deciphering the wild life of these birds which make Marquenterre Park a privileged stopover between West africa
and Scandinavia ».In total harmony with its geological configuration in an environment often incorporating surprises
at every step that are also interesting to discover on foot or during mountains bikes getaways along the gentle
undulating banks that border its marshes or along its estuaries, the Baie De Somme is also a space where culture reigns
supreme, particularly during the Bird Festival and nature, the 33rd edition of which will take place from April 20 to 28,
2024 and which brings together both passionate about photography, nature and ornithology but also many lovers of
outdoor adventures beaten paths in this region which has the particularity of maintaining a preserved environment far
from any excessive human presence which it is always fascinating to discover and which is the expression of the
environmental wealth of our country and the men and women who sustain it.
